Bin’s career within the maritime, legal, and marine/offshore insurance industries spans over two decades.
Prior to joining NIORD as Chief Underwriting Officer, Bin had a 12-year career with Norwegian Hull Club. His last role there was on the Global Energy & Specialty team as Vice President Offshore Renewables.
During his time with Norwegian Hull Club, Bin amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience working with its Offshore Energy, Marine Builder’s Risk, and Special Risks teams. He has a proven track record of finding creative underwriting solutions to unique and bespoke risks.
Bin holds a B.S. in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan, an M.S. in Marine Technology from the Norwegian University of Science & Technology (NTNU) where he attended as a Fulbright Scholar, and a J.D. from the College of William & Mary School of Law. Bin is currently a student in the 2023-24 Executive MBA program at BI Norwegian Business School.
He says: “Energy security is disrupted if we do not carefully calibrate carbon-intensive energy off-ramping with renewable energy on-ramping. Insurance plays a huge role in facilitating the speedy deployment of capital for that latter purpose. There is no transition otherwise and NIORD, therefore, takes this responsibility very seriously.”
